I’m drawn to objects that transform. As a candle burns, the form changes, stones drop, the light shifts, and the shadows move. Nothing stays quite the same.
The candles grew naturally out of my work with jewelry and sculpture. I became fascinated by what happened around the objects: the light, shadows, fragments, and the way a form could alter a space simply through changing light.
The wax is embedded with gemstones, glass, and fragments collected through years of jewelry making, giving these materials a new life in another form.
Jewelry, sculpture, and candles are all different ways of exploring the same idea: how material, light, and touch can transform an object, a space, and the way we experience it.
